Hospital Celebrating Rehab Grand Opening

Hotel-Dieu Grace Health Care is celebrating the official grand opening of the new Cardiac Wellness and Rehabilitation Centre.

The over 10,000 sq ft facility includes a walking track, treadmills and other cardio equipment for patients to build up strength.

Manager of Ambulatory Services Jason Petro says this project has been a long time coming.

"It's a long road, 16 years with this as the vision and we got there with a ton of support," says Petro.

The $1.7-million to build and equip the facility was raised completely by the community through individual donations, the Heart Breaker Challenge and the Bob Probert Ride.

"That was the goal to make this happen without any tax dollars. We were able to do that and it's just absolutely amazing with all the people that were coming together to make this happen," says Petro.
