United Way Climbing For Mental Health

Support mental health and counselling programs in Windsor-Essex while getting a bit of a workout, Wednesday.

The seventh annual United Way iClimb event is being held at the WFCU Centre during three time slots.

Youth Engagement Coordinator Missy Sauro hopes to see at least a thousand step climbers over the course of the day.

"We have massage therapists that are coming (this year), in case you need a bit more incentive to come out," says Sauro. "We have a huge, inflatable, obstacle course. We have these inflatable ponies which make it a relay race. And throughout all of the climb, there are messages about mental health awareness."

Sauro says the WFCU Centre will be open to climbers between 7am and 8:30am, school groups will take over between 9am and 2pm, and then it'll be open again to the public between 3pm and 6pm.

The event saw more than 2,000 participants last year, raising $40,000 for the United Way of Windsor-Essex.

Anyone taking part in Wednesday's iClimb challenge is asked to use the hashtag #whyiclimb on social media.
