High-Risk Takedown Only False Alarm

A high-risk traffic stop by police officers in Windsor has turned out to be a false alarm.

The Windsor Police Service says officers stopped a black van on Howard Ave. in front of Devonshire Mall on Saturday around 10am.

A witness says around ten officers were at the scene with guns drawn when they stopped the vehicle.

Police say officers had reason to believe that a passenger in the van was a suspect known to traffic in firearms. However, during the traffic stop it was found that the suspect was not in the vehicle.

No one has been charged following the incident.
