American Border Agents Seize $10M

When it comes to collecting undeclared money, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency says the Detroit Field Office is second only to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City.

Between customs at the Ambassador Bridge, the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel and Detroit Metro Airport, officials seized about $10-million in 2015.

The agency also made 961 arrests, 588 narcotic and drug seizures and seized 72 firearms.

The border crossing between Windsor and Detroit remains the busiest. The year-end audit says more than 1.5-million trucks crossed carrying $101-billion in trade last year.

As for passenger vehicles, more than 4-million crossed either at the Tunnel or the Ambassador Bridge carrying more than 7-million passengers. A total of 8,759 flights landed at Detroit Metro Airport carrying more than 1.5-million passengers.

The Blue Water Bridge connecting Sarnia and Port Huron saw 798,112 trucks and 1.7-million passenger vehicles.
