County Reaches Tentative Deal With ONA

The County of Essex is backing a tentative deal with the union representing nurses at the Sun Parlor Home in Leamington.

County council voted in support of the new agreement on Wednesday night.

Members with the Ontario Nurses' Association now have to ratify the deal.

"It's heading off to ONA now and they'll be looking at it. It's a matter of waiting to see," says Tom Bain, warden for the County of Essex.

The nurses at the Sun Parlor Home have been without a contract for some time.

"It's been close to two years now without a contract, so it's one we're very pleased to see that we've hopefully got it settled," says Bain. "We'll wait for their results."

Details of the new deal are not being made available right now as the warden didn't want to get into specifics of the agreement before the ratification vote.
