Deal For Occasional Catholic Teachers

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board has a tentative contract agreement with the union that represents its occasional teachers.

The board made the announcement Tuesday after several weeks of bargaining with the local Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association. The provincial union reached a deal with the province last August.

Board Chair Barb Holland won't release details until after the teachers have ratified it, but says "we believe this is a fair deal that is fiscally responsible for our ratepayers."

So far, there's no word when the 371 occasional teachers will vote on the agreement.

The board continues negotiations with full-time elementary and secondary school teachers, CUPE Locals 1358.1 and 1358.2 and Unifor Local 2458.
