State Of Boblo Island Dock In Feds' Hands

There's not much the Town of Amherstburg can do about the current state of disrepair at the Boblo Island Dock, but Mayor Aldo DiCarlo hopes the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans acts soon.

The dock is under federal jurisdiction and is locked away from public use behind a chain-link fence. DiCarlo says it's in sad shape.

"It's falling apart," he says. "It's falling into the water."

Town council plans to send the department a letter requesting repairs, along with some pictures illustrating what repairs are needed.

DiCarlo says the town has a use in mind for it.

"The biggest issue that's probably raised is the availability of fishing property, recreational access to the water," says DiCarlo. "That would probably be an ideal use for it."

There's no word yet how much repairs will cost.
