City CAO Says Goodbye To Council

Helga Reidel's days as the top administrator at the City of Windsor are winding down.

She attended her last council meeting as chief administrative officer on Tuesday night.

"It's a very strange feeling," says Reidel. "Being in municipal government, it really grows on you. For myself, it kind of took over my life. My family thankfully was great about that and allowed me to immerse myself in this job, so it's very bittersweet."

Reidel says one of her proudest accomplishments as CAO is helping to right the ship after coming into the job at a difficult time in the city's history.

"It was right after our strike," says Reidel. "Employees felt pretty badly after that and management really had their work cut out for them. There was a lot of rebuilding that had to be done with relationships."

Reidel takes over as the CEO of EnWin on April 1.

Current city treasurer, Onorio Colucci, will take over the CAO's job.
