High-Speed Police Chase In Amherstburg

A 20-year-old Windsor man is facing a long list of charges following a high-speed police chase that ended in a ditch.

Amherstburg police say they tried to stop a suspected suspended driver Thursday at around 9:40am on County Rd. 11 near North Malden Rd.

The driver failed to pull over and continued at a high rate of speed down North Malden Rd. Eventually police say the driver lost control and crashed into a ditch at the corner of County Rd. 15 and North Malden Rd.

The man's name has not been released.

Police have charged him with the following offences:

-Driving a motor vehicle without a permit

-Driving while under suspension

-Failing to surrender license

-Failing to notify about a change of address

-Operating a vehicle without insurance

-Careless driving

-Failing to stop when requested by a police officer

-Contravene license condition -- driving ability

-Failing to signal during a lane change

-Failing to drive in a marked lane
