High Winds Prompt Flood Watch

The Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch due to high winds that are predicted to hit the Windsor-Essex area.

Winds of 40-55 km/h out of the west to northwest are expected over the next six hours, with the potential for wind gusts of 80-90 km/hr.

The conservation authority says the high winds create the possibility for flooding, shoreline erosion and damaging waves. The areas that could be most effected are along the Lake Erie shoreline on the west and north sides of Pelee Island and along the Lake St. Clair shoreline in the Town of Lakeshore, from the Town of Belle River to the east limit of the Town of Lakeshore.

The flood watch will remain in effect until Sunday at 9am.
