Euthanized Dog Likely Attacked By Other Animal

A dog that was seriously injured and later euthanized was likely attacked by another larger animal, according to police.

The Windsor Police Service says on Wednesday around 9pm, officers responded to a home on Lassaline Ave. near Ferndale Ave. after the owner found the dog seriously injured in the backyard. The black poodle was taken to a veterinary hospital and had to be euthanized due to the extent of the injuries.

Police say a necropsy was completed on the dog, which show that the injuries were almost certainly inflicted by another larger animal, most likely a dog.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Windsor police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4305 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS).
