Essex Lottery Winner Retiring Early

A 62-year-old Essex man is finally cashing in some winnings after selecting the same lottery numbers for over 30 years.

Alfred Ayotte won just over $1.6 million in the LOTTO 6/49 draw Wednesday April 6, 2016.

Ayotte and his wife decided he can retire early because of the jackpot.

"I called my boss to say I won’t be returning that day and that I was on my way to pick up my $1.6 million cheque in Toronto,” says Ayotte.

The father of two is planning to take a vacation, pay off his mortgage and purchase a new car. “Winning the lottery is unbelievable. Now I will be able to retire early,” concluded Ayotte.

Ayotte had one of eight winning lottery tickets for the $13 million jackpot draw. He purchased the ticket at the Mac's on Matchette Rd. in Windsor.
