Big Lottery Win In Essex

An Essex couple says they'll be spoiling their children and grandchildren after winning $5-million in the LOTTO 6/49 draw.

Bernadette and Kenneth McLean had stopped for a coffee while driving through Whitby in late March, and decided to buy a lottery ticket.

Then, last Thursday, they visited a local convenience store to see if they'd won anything and were stunned to find out they were millionaires.

"We left the store and went home so we could get our wits about us. We phoned our children to share the exciting news. Our daughter joked saying, 'What did you win? Five bucks?'" Bernadette McLean says, "This win has a few more zeros."

Aside from spending money on the kids, the Essex couple says they'll be going on a road trip with friends, taking a Florida vacation and buying some new furniture.
