The pool at the Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore is set to open on schedule in July of this year.
"Even though we've had a few things to repair it's on budget and it will be opening on time. The milder winter certainly helped us to keep that schedule going," says Lakeshore Mayor Tom Bain.
Lakeshore council toured the facility yesterday and received a construction update. A number of building deficiencies were noted but nothing that can't be fixed.
"When you're building a recreational centre that includes ice rinks and pools and gymnasiums certainly there has to be a number of change orders," says Bain.
The facility is wheel chair accessible and includes a lazy river, a family pool, lanes for swimming and a hot tub. The community centre, gymnasium, library and ice rinks at the Atlas Tube Centre are already open for use.
