Windsor Ronald McDonald House Opening Friday

McDonald's restaurants across the country are raising money for Ronald McDonald House Charities today.

The Windsor Essex Ronald McDonald House at Windsor Regional Hospital is set to open this Friday as a satellite campus of the London house.

Executive Director Margaret Anderson says even though it wont change the number of families who have to travel to London this is a major milestone for the region.

"At least for those families who are getting some of the great care that they can get right here in Windsor-Essex that additional support for them to help them stay together, to help them stay recharged and regenerated and rested and able to face what their child is dealing with will now be there to support them," says Anderson.

On McHappy Day. proceeds of sales from any hot beverage, Happy Meal or Big Mac go toward the charity.

Last year the Ronald McDonald House in London served 1,144 families including almost 300 families from Windsor-Essex and 80 families from Chatham-Kent.
