Bringing Bourbon St. To Windsor

Ottawa St. is going to take on a New Orleans feel this June, as it hosts the Bourbon St. Experience.

Ian France, with the help of the Ottawa St. BIA, is organizing the event on June 24 and 25.

He says it will close the road between Pierre Ave. and Gladstone Ave., making room for extended patios, jazz and funk bands on street corners, and allowing patrons to walk between businesses with drinks in hand.

"[Ottawa St.] is a significant part of Walkerville that a lot of people might not associate with [Walkerville], and we're really looking to expose it to the community and start bringing some cool events there," explains France.

Saturday afternoon is going to be opened up to families for free, with face-painting, clowns, food and bouncy castles.

France says tickets are just $10 in advance for both evenings. Part of the proceeds are going toward new lighting and beautification on Ottawa St.
