The fire broke out around 1:00pm on the third floor of the apartment at 3591 Sandwich near Watkins St.
A bystander was transported to hospital with minor smoke inhalation after assisting other residents with evacuation.
No word on cause or damage at this time.
People in southern Huron and Lambton counties are being told to limit their time outside.
