Careless Smoking Causes Hospital Fire

Careless smoking in a patient room at Windsor Regional Hospital-Ouellette Campus is getting the blame for a small fire Monday evening.

Windsor fire crews responded to the fire on the third floor of the building around 6pm.  Crews quickly put out the fire that was contained to one room.

The wing of the hospital had to be evacuated for a short time but all patients have now returned to their rooms.

No injuries were reported.

The fire cost around $10,000 in damages.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
