City Hall Contractor Approved

Windsor City Council approved Oscar Construction as the general contractor for the new city hall.
"The project can start commencing, you'll see the hoarding, you'll see things starting to happen now and with city council's blessing the project is now moving forward," says Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens.

Oscar Construction presented the lowest bid of $28.5-million among five general contractors who submitted proposals.

The bid was below the $30-million budget so counci added some additional features to the build including a greenroof, artistic lighting and additional landscaping. The provisional items will cost $1,115,000.

"We added back five items, they are all within our budget, still keeps us under budget and I think they are nice enhancements that people will appreciate in their city hall at the end of the day," says Dilkens.

Construction is slated to begin shortly.
