Humane Society Lays Animal Abuse Charges

A Windsor woman is being charged with 14 counts of permitting distress to an animal.

The Windsor-Essex County Humane Society announced today its officers charged the woman after seven dogs were found in a Bonita Ave. home while seven others were found abandoned throughout Windsor and Tecumseh.

The dogs are now in the care of the humane society, however one of the dogs abandoned by the accused is still missing.

The dogs are being treated and prepared for adoption — a process expected to take at least two more weeks.

In a news release, the humane society says it does not publish the name of the accused until there has been a conviction.
