Council To Decide Future of Parking Garage

Windsor City Council could decide the future of the ground floor of the parking garage on Pelissier St. at tonight's council meeting.

Administration had recommended converting the commercial units back to parking spaces because of leaky units and low vacancy.

Instead council decided to put out an "Expression of Interest" to see if there was a person or company willing to renovate, maintain and operate the units.

President of Horwitz Holdings and DWBIA Chair Larry Horwitz says he put forward a proposal because it would be devastating to see the units disappear. "I believe I can take this project, make it a very successful, commercial area. Put awnings on the building, make it attractive and vital, bring in businesses to the downtown and create revenue for the city," says Horwitz.

Council has one other offer to consider or could decide to convert the units.
