Driver Attempts To Hitchhike After Crash

The driver of a car involved in two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 3 fled the scene on foot and tried to hitchhike down the road, OPP say.

Emergency crews responded to the collision Saturday at around 10:30pm on Hwy. 3 and Arner Townline.

A Jeep was hit from behind by a Ford causing the Jeep to flip over and the Ford to leave the road.

Police say the man driving the Ford walked through a field and was later found trying to hitch a ride. They say he also showed signs of intoxication.

The 21-year-old Leamington man has been charged with impaired driving and exceeding 80mg of blood alcohol content.

Both drivers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
