Police Make Arrest In Walkerville Shooting

Windsor police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting that sent one man to hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

The Windsor Police Service reported Thursday that they had identified a suspect in the shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon at a Tim Horton's parking lot in the area of Wyandotte St. E and Walker Rd.  Police have since located and arrested the a 20-year-old male suspect, and officers say they are not looking for additional suspects.

Following an investigation, police determined that the victim and the suspect attended the Tim Hortons around 1pm in separate vehicles before the 25-year-old victim was shot. The shooter was then last seen running south on Monmouth St.

The victim got into a vehicle and was taken to hospital by another man who was also at the scene at the time. The 25-year-old has undergone emergency surgery for the gunshot wound and is currently listed in stable condition.

According to police, the two men are known to each other and the incident was drug related.

Police expect to release additional information about the arrest on Friday.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
