Dragon Boat Festival Still Reaching For Goal

The Windsor Essex Dragon Boat Festival goes today at Lakewood Park in Tecumseh.

This is the third year of a $1.2-million pledge to help pay for state-of-the-art breast cancer screening equipment at Windsor Regional Hospital's Breast Health Centre.

Organizers say it could take another two years to pay off.

Over the last 14 years, the dragon boat races have raised more than $3.4-million for breast cancer care at local hospitals.

More than 1,000 teams have taken part in the festival over the years. Of those, 40 will hit the water today.
