UPDATE: Many Displaced Following Apartment Fire

Around 100 people have been displaced following a fire at Plumbrook Manor Apartments in Leamington.

The Leamington and Kingsville fire departments were called to the scene of the fire at 5 Plumbrook Dr. on Saturday around 6pm. Fire officials say the blaze originated in the kitchen of one of the apartment units.

Two people had to be rescued from the building and three pets perished in the fire. As well, a firefighter suffered unknown injuries while battling the blaze.

Plumbrook Dr. between Oak St. E and Southbridge St. was closed while fire officials conducted an investigation.

It is unknown when the displaced residents will be able to return to their apartment units.

Damage is estimated at $435,000, but he exact cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
