Man Charged With Attempted Murder, Kidnapping

Windsor police are looking for the public to come forward with any information regarding an investigation into an attempted murder and kidnapping case.

Police report the incident began Tuesday evening in the 3700-block of Montcalm St. in west Windsor. A woman was kidnapped by a man who was known to her and driven out of the city.

Officers say the woman was able to escape from the vehicle off of Hwy. 401 near Ingersoll and police were contacted at that point.

The suspect was arrested at a truck stop in Woodstock early this morning with the help of OPP and the Woodstock Police Service.

A 42-year-old man is charged with attempted murder, forcible confinement, kidnapping and assault with a weapon along with several other offences.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
