Car Catches Fire, Another Crashes In Front Yard

Emergency crews in Amherstburg were busy Thursday morning responding to two separate crashes involving elderly men.

At around 7:30am one family woke up to a vehicle teetering on their front yard garden. It happened on Sandwich St. near Elm Ave.

Police say the 72-year-old driver lost control and was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

In a separate collision around 8:50am, police were dispatched to an incident involving two vehicles on Front Rd. near the Ranta Marina.

One vehicle burst into flames. Amherstburg fire crews arrived to extinguish the blaze.

Nobody was injured, but an 87-year-old man is being charged with careless driving.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
