Making A Splash At A Grand Opening

The Town of Lakeshore is celebrating the grand opening of the new WFCU pool and splash pad at the Atlas Tube Centre.

It's the final part of the $60-million recreational facility that includes three ice rinks, a gymnasium, walking track, outdoor basketball and tennis courts and programming space.

The aquatic facility is a four lane 25 m lap pool, a recreational beach entry pool, a therapeutic pool and outdoor splash pad.

Steve Salmons, director of community and development services, says the pool will fill a huge gap in services in the community.

"We already have parents booking into the next sessions for swim lessons and finding them full. The community has not only embraced the new pool we two weeks old and already overwhelmed," says Salmons.

The facility will host a full schedule of recreation programming including open swims, lane swimming, and swimming lessons. The pools opens at 6am and closes at 10pm, seven days a week.
