Ministry Issues Orders After Roofing Accident

The Ministry of Labour has issued five orders to Rauth Roofing after an employee fell through a roof last week.

On July 15, 2016, the worker was performing flat roof repairs on the roof of Goodlife Fitness on Dougall Ave. when he fell through an opening in the roof to the floor below.

After an initial investigation, the Ministry of Labour issued orders the company in order to bring the workplace into compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

These orders include installing adequate floor covering and guard rails, securing top and bottom of access ladder, installing bump lines and selecting a health and safety rep for the project.

The employee is recovering from serious injuries.

Compliance of the orders is still outstanding. The Ministry of Labour investigation continues.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
