Residents Assist In Gunpoint Arrest

LaSalle police are thanking members of the public for their help in the arrest of a man, Sunday afternoon on Malden Rd. at Sprucewood Ave.

Officials say it was 2:30pm when they were called to a Shoppers Drug Mart on Malden Rd.

There, witnesses told police they'd seen a man take off running toward Sprucewood Ave. with two laptops in hand.

Officers were able to quickly get to the intersection of Sprucewood Ave. and Malden Rd. where they say the suspect was attempting to steal a vehicle.

The suspect was soon surrounded by police cruisers and officers with their guns drawn, and is now behind bars, facing numerous charges.

LaSalle police say the quick actions of residents resulted in the recovery of the stolen goods, and prevented the suspect from potentially causing serious injury to innocent people.
