Large Jump in People Behind on Hydro Bills

More than 6,000 EnWin customers were unable to pay their electricity bills at the end of 2015.

According to a report by the Ontario Energy Board, the 6,078 customers owed EnWin more than $1.18-million. That's a significant jump from 2014 when only 2,172 customers were in arrears.

There was also a jump in the number of households in arrears with Essex Powerline Corporation. Over 1,200 customers owed $307, 953.

The number of customers in arrears with E.L.K, Energy was down slightly in 2015 with 3,256 customers owing $889,417. In 2014 3,990 customers owed the energy company $1.11-million.

About 8% of Ontario households were in arrears in 2015 owing more than $172.5-million.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
