WRH-Ouellette Campus Elective Surgeries Cancelled

Windsor Regional Hospital is cancelling all elective surgeries at Ouellette Campus effective immediately.

The hospital continues to have problems with the machinery used to sterilize equipment. A release sent by the hospital states the problem is "sporadic". The hospital is currently conducting tests of the system to determine the problem.

Any emergency surgical cases will be addressed at Ouellette and could be transferred out of the city or to Met campus if deemed necessary.

Surgeries were also cancelled in June because of problems with the sterilization equipment. CEO David Musyj is expected to provide an update on the situation Tuesday morning.
