Revitalizing The Meadows

A former hot spot for those touring Essex County could soon return to its former glory.

That's the hope of Bruno Morin and Joe Monteleone, who are taking over the old Meadows By The Lake Bar and Grill in Colchester, and turning it into The Meadows Public House.

"It's the location [that we're excited about], more than anything," says Morin. "The wine tours are becoming more popular and that area is growing. People have been, over the last few years, I feel they've been moving out of the city, to the county."

Morin believes the building's been around since the 1930's, and says business was at its peak there through the 60s and 70s.

According to the new owner, it eventually became known mostly as a biker bar before suffering a couple of fires, the last of which came in 2014, and it's sat empty since.

Morin's vision is to restore the Meadows as a pub-style restaurant, and have its doors open by January or February of 2017.
