Strike Won't Delay Secondary Students Thursday

Unifor Local 2458 has agreed to withdraw strike action at Catholic secondary schools Thursday morning to allow students and teachers to take part in the Grade 10 literacy test.

President Bruce Dickie says they understand the importance of the test, and do not want to stand in the way of any student's success.

The union represents 307 custodians and clerical staff with the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board who went on strike Monday.

Since the strike began students and teachers have been delayed for hours entering school property.

The school board issued a statement thanking the union for its understanding and cooperation.
