Police Arrest Man With Air Pistol

Charges have been laid after police were dispatched to investigate a man who was reportedly seen carrying a handgun.

The Windsor Police Service says on Wednesday, officers with the Drugs and Guns Unit obtained a search warrant for a residence on Capitol St. near Remington Ave.  At around 5:15pm, the Emergency Service Unit attended the home and saw the suspect walking toward the rear of the house, where he was taken into custody.

Officers searched the man and allegedly seized a black air pistol handgun, and 0.4 g of methamphetamine.  Police say the man was also under a firearms prohibition.

Terrence Poppe, 33, of Windsor has been charged with possession of a firearm while prohibited and possession of methamphetamine.

Police are reminding the public about the dangers of carrying imitation firearms, air pistol, airsoft and pellet guns in public places. Officers will respond firearms calls and treat them as real guns, until proven otherwise.
