The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has provided a second-quarter payment to the city of Windsor for hosting Caesars Windsor.
The OLG has submitted a non-tax gaming revenue payment to the city of just over $2.4-million for the period covering July to September of this year.
"Revenues from OLG gaming sites help municipalities invest in infrastructure projects and support important community initiatives," said Ontario Minister of Finance Charles Sousa in a press release. "These funds also support vital public services such as health care and education for the benefit of the people of Ontario."
The city of Windsor has received over $33.6-million in non-tax gaming revenue from the province since Caesars Windsor opened its doors in the spring of 1994.
OLG provides the province with over $2-billion dollars annually from lottery sales and gaming revenue. This is the largest source of non-tax revenue for the Ontario government.
This fiscal year, the province has earmarked $115-million in gaming revenue to support charities through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, as well as $38-million to support programs designed to research, treat and prevent problem gambling.
