Ben Johnson's Appeal Of Conviction Filed

The Ontario Court of Appeal has received the expected appeal of former Windsor Spitfire Ben Johnson's conviction for sexual assault.

The assault on a 16-year-old girl took place on St. Patrick's Day 2013 at the Mynt Nightclub in Windsor.

Johnson was found guilty and sentenced to three years in prison last month.

An official with the province's highest court says the appeal was received October 27, two days after he was sentenced.

A Windsor judge also ordered Johnson to submit his DNA to the National Sex Offender Registry for the next 20 years.
