St. Michael's Church Re-Opens

After 15 months of construction, St. Michael's Roman Catholic Parish in Leamington is ready to open its doors to parishioners.

It's the first Sunday for the new church after construction started in July 2015.

The parish had held ongoing fundraising for several years to build a new building and bring its parishioners under one roof as two worship sites were being maintained.

"Our main focus has always been to have our families under one roof," says Father Danny Santos with the church. "We look forward to this new chapter that will unite all families and communities in our beautiful new church."

The original church was built in 1922. The church had a number of renovations over the years including additions in the early 1990s.

The new building has seating for 540 people including 16 wheelchair spaces. There is also a parish hall with a full service kitchen, four meeting rooms, an elevator and a 56-person chapel.

A dedication mass was held on Friday night to officially open the new church.
