Thousands Attend Windsor Remembrance Day Ceremony (GALLERY)

Remembrance Day continues to draw large crowds in Windsor.

Thousands attended the annual ceremony at the cenotaph in City Hall Square, bringing people from many walks off life together to pay their respects to the men and women who fought and fight to keep Canada free and peaceful.

Mayor Drew Dilkens addressed those gathered this morning.

"Without their sacrifices, without their pain, the world as we know it would be a much different place," said Dilkens. "We owe them now and always a debt of gratitude."

In his address, he stressed the importance of supporting local veterans.

"When our veterans stand side-by-side and when we stand with them as we do today, we show our continued support to all those men and women we've lost and to the families and loved ones they've left behind," said Dilkens.

Remembrance Day ceremonies were held throughout the region including at the University of Windsor and communities throughout Essex County.
