UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed In Early Morning Collision

Amherstburg police have confirmed a fatal collision involving a pedestrian around 6:40am Thursday morning.

A 30-year-old Amherstburg man was struck by a Ford Focus on County Rd. 18 between Conc. Rd. 4 S and Meloche Rd.

Police say the victim was travelling westbound on a skateboard when he was struck by the Focus. The 23-year-old driver was travelling east and was attempting to pass another vehicle.

The victim died at the scene of the collision, while the driver of the Focus was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police say visibility is believed to be a factor in the crash.

The road reopened around 12:30pm Thursday, but the investigation continues.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
