UPDATE: Driver Charged In Amherstburg Fatal

A 23-year-old Amherstburg man is facing a charge of criminal negligence causing death after a crash on County Rd. 18, between Concession 4 and Meloche Rd.

Police say 30-year-old Adam Pouget was walking or riding a skateboard in the westbound lane around 6:40am Thursday morning, and was killed when an eastbound Ford Focus hit him while trying to pass another vehicle.

Police believe the speed of the car and heavy fog on the road were both factors in the accident.

The accused has been released from custody with a promise to reappear in court next month.
