Parade Season in Essex County

Parade season kicks off this weekend with two local parades.

The Windsor Santa Claus Parade Corporation is holding its first parade of the year in Kingsville at 6:00pm as part of the Fantasy of Lights Festival  being held in the town.

Maggie Durocher says its the first of many they host throughout Windsor and Essex County.

"Wonderful line up, at last county we have up to 10 bands, a number of American bands, I've got a number of equestrian units coming, lots of local entries so we're extremely excited about it," says Durocher.

The Windsor Parade Corporation is also hosing parades in Amherstburg (Nov. 26), Windsor (Dec. 3), and Essex (Dec. 10). Durocher says each parade features a unique line-up and local entries. For a full list of times and locations visit santaparade.org. Each parade hosted by the Windsor Santa Claus Parade corporation holds a canned food drive.

The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association is also holding a parade this weekend down Ouellette Ave. as part of Winter Fest 2016. The parade kicks off at 3:00pm.

Christmas in Tecumseh festivities will be held on November 25 and feature a parade as well as holiday activities throughout the weekend.

The Town of Lakeshore Christmas tree lighting ceremony will also be held on November 25.

The Leamington Christmas parade is being held on November 26, 2016 at 6:00pm.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
