Amherstburg Postpones Budget Deliberations

A death in the family of an Amherstburg Town councillor has prompted a delay in the start of budget deliberations.

Budget talks were expected to start at 6pm Tuesday.

Council passed a motion Monday night to hold off after councillor Diane Pouget's daughter died of cancer.

"Diane's always been there for everybody," says Deputy Mayor Bart DiPasquale. "She's been a rock for everybody, including her family."

So, far new dates for budget deliberations haven't been set.  The draft budget calls for a 1.99% increase in the property tax bill.
