The tentative agreement was reached with CUPE Local 27 through an extended round of negotiations and with the facilitation of the Ministry of Education.
The union represents 265 current employees with the public school board.
The deal needs to be ratified by both school trustees and union members.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
