Firefighters in Amherstburg tackled a garage fire Sunday.

Amherstburg Fire says the blaze broke out after 1pm at a detached garage in the 1900 block of Front Rd. N.   The building was fully involved but the fire was put out within the hour.

Front Rd was closed to traffic while crews battled the blaze but it has since been reopened.

Damage is estimated at $50,000 to the garage itself and at about $100,000 for the contents.  Amherstburg Fire says that the fire began in the area of a battery charger and inverter in the garage.
