New Focus On Sciences For Holy Names

The Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board is putting an increased focus on science and technology at Holy Names Catholic High School.

The board has committed $600,000 to upgrading science labs at the at the south Windsor high school to enhance skills in science, technology, engineering and math.

Executive Superintendent of Student Achievement Emelda Bryne says they want to focus on the skills needed for the employment market.

"Students who have essential tools to move into different jobs. The labour market is changing, so in different job areas these are types of skills that students would really benefit from," says Bryne.

The board is also partnering with the University of Windsor and St. Clair College to bring professors into the high school setting.

The board has also committed to build a new turf football field, scoreboard and lighting at the school.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
