Nine Leamington Cabs Taken Off The Road

The Essex County OPP and the Ministry of Transportation conducted a taxi cab blitz in Leamington on Wednesday.

Of the 11 cabs inspected, nine were placed out of service because of unsafe conditions of the vehicle. The vehicles were placed out of service for steering, frame rot, tires and brakes.

Six taxi cabs had their plates removed by the Ministry of Transportation. A Leamington bylaw officers removed two municipal plates.

Licenses will not be reissued until safety inspections are completed.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
