Fiat-Chrysler Again Coming Up Big For United Way

Fiat-Chrysler and Unifor Local 444's annual donation to United Way Windsor-Essex County is up more than $83,000 this year.

The union announced $1.26-million for the local charity on Friday at the Windsor Assembly Plant.

Local Unifor vice president James Stewart says his members always seem to find extra to give when a good cause comes calling.

"During the wildfires in Alberta, our members came up big. When it's the food drive, which just happened [Thursday], $10,000 in cash donations and 14 or 15 barrels of food," he describes.

Stewart explains the annual United Way donation is a collaborative effort between his 5,800 members and a couple hundred employees working in management.

Employees at Fiat-Chrysler in Windsor have now donated more than $1-million annually for the last 30 years.
