Otters Edge Spitfires 4-3

The Windsor Spitfires fell 4-3 against the Erie Otters on Friday, to end a five game winning streak.

The Otters drew first blood with a goal 5:07 into the first period and Cole Purboo quickly followed up with a goal for the Spitfires. Erie scored to retake the advantage just before the second period, and then extended their lead to 3-1.

Cristiano DiGiacinto scored for Windsor with just over a minute left in the second frame, followed again by the Otters who scored to make it 4-2 with 7:04 left in the game.

Sean Day scored for Windsor late in the final frame, but the Spits couldn't tie the game before the buzzer.

Windsor goaltender Michael DiPietro made 31 saves out of 35 shots on net.

The Spitfires travel to St. Catharines on Saturday to take on the Niagara IceDogs at 7pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
