Spitfires Break Spirit In OT

The Windsor Spitfires edged the Saginaw Spirit 4-3 in overtime on Wednesday.

The Spirit took a 1-0 lead in the first period and extended it to 2-0 in the second. Gabriel Vilardi put Windsor on the board 15:43 into the second frame, and then Jeremiah Addison added another goal 29 seconds into the third to tie the game.

Saginaw briefly retook the lead with a single goal, but Addison scored his second of the night to tie the game again, and force OT. Vilardi scored his second goal of the game 3:45 into extra time to win it for Windsor.

Windsor goaltender Michael DiPietro made 19 saves out of 22 shots on net.

The Spits are at home to take on the Kitchener Rangers on Thursday at 7:05pm.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
